Farewell-For-Now Party For Mitzi

Longtime friend and musical cohort Mitzi Cowell is starting to pack her bags as she's heading to Toronto later this summer with all her stuff in a new, gently used, Nissan pickup. The University of Toronto was wise to entice her as she, in her own words, graduated with a double-major of Religious Studies and Political Science, with honors, Phi Beta Kappa, summa cum laude, and a side of potato salad this last May.

To celebrate her move, a party has been planned for Sunday, July 13 at the Hut at 7PM. The Wayback Machine (Mitzi with Jim Lipson, Tom Woolley, Bev Seckinger, Gary Mackender) will kick off the night followed by the Mitzi Cowell Band (Mitzi with Bev Seckinger and Will Clipman) , the Carnivaleros (Mitzi with Gary Mackender, Marx Loeb, Michael P, Chris Giambelluca and Carla Brownlee), the Valiants (Mitzi with Sid George, Nick Augustine, Doug Chance and Gary Mackender) and then a JAM that could include any number of musicians who show up. This is a party not to be missed. Y'all come out and wish Mitzi hasta la vista, baby!

Carnivaleros Taking Time Off

With Mitzi leaving town and my studio up and running, the band is taking a breather from live performances. I have over a dozen new songs I'm hashing out and hope to have a new CD before the end of the year. In the meantime I've launched a new Carnivaleros web site and a new site that features the visual art mischief I'm up to.

The site is called OlPuebloboy, which is the handle I've used on eBay for several years. You will notice that the Photography page gives notice that it's "coming soon". One reason for that is I've been working for two years on the enormous task of scanning my 30 year archive of negatives. When that's complete (very close!) I'll copyright the work and rotate those images out along with my newer work. See for yourself by clicking any link on the left.

If you like any of the smaller works you see on the Mixed Media page, they are available for sale. Three of the pieces are in a current show downtown at Dinnerware ArtSpace until July 19. Go check 'em out!
